It's been a great Fall as you can see from this ph It's been a great Fall as you can see from this photo of @peterekeane perched on one of the coolest belay ledges at Smith Rock. Now that winter is here we still expect to sneak in a few climbing days when the sun is shining. Mostly we'll trade in the rock shoes for ski boots and play in the snow with @oregonskiguides See you bright and early in the Spring for more vertical adventures.
#Skyridge is a classic #multipitch at #smithrock #Skyridge is a classic #multipitch at #smithrock Even after all that snowfall to signal the start of Winter, #smithrockclimbingschool is still out there teaching skills and using them to adventure. @maxtepfer sent this photo from up on the wall yesterday.
@philbowker77 on the crux of Cobra Commander, 11b @philbowker77 on the crux of Cobra Commander, 11b - a new two-pitch route on the West side of #smithrock that he put up with @cliffordagocs this Fall. @tylergatesphotography was kind enough to take these sunset photos a few weeks ago. It's difficult to beat the position on the final moves. #smithrockclimbingschool

One thing that never goes out of season: skills! D One thing that never goes out of season: skills! Developing them. Practicing them. Sharing them with our community. When the weather gets a little cold for crimping, it's a great time to focus on skills to help you climb better, safer, and even faster. That can mean advanced ropework, self rescue systems, rope ascension and all the little tricks that add up to that elusive term, efficiency. When the sun is shining and it's sending season, it's easy to put these important skills on the back burner. As winter comes, don't just tuck away that gear in a closet. This winter is a great time to make a list of the technical skills your want to develop and then make a plan to build them in advance of your next season of climbing adventures.
