Rock climbing as a family can be a very rewarding experience. It builds trust and confidence and is a fun adventure to have as a family. Kids are naturally interested in climbing and with the right instruction they can have a truly memorable experience.
Our guides work with young people and families throughout the year and do an excellent job of developing trust of the anchoring system and creating an environment in which kids can feel comfortable challenging themselves. The same goes for parents and grandparents. Even if you have never climbed before you will leave this day feeling great about your climbing.
Our guides are familiar with many areas at the park that are perfectly suited to beginners and offer more challenging climbs nearby for those who are already experienced. We choose areas that are easy to access, in many cases have nearby bathroom facilities, and allow for relaxing at the base of the walls throughout the day while you’re not actively climbing.
This one day trip from Bend is a great way to see one of the most stunning natural formation in Central Oregon – Smith Rock State Park. In addition to the climbing, we’ll tour the natural scenery of the Crooked River Gorge, the many bird species that call the park home, and the short accessible hikes make this an excellent outing for the entire family.
You’ll spend the day together as a family in the outdoors, increase self confidence, and give your kids a lasting memory of a great experience. Our highly trained climbing guides have been introducing this amazing sport to families for over thirty years and we’re excited to share it with yours.
