Our Half-day program is a great way to try out rock climbing in a guided setting. It’s great for kids and families who don’t want to spend the entire day fighting gravity. There are two half-day climbing programs available each day, beginning at 8 am and 2 pm respectively. It’s important to arrive on time to make the most of your outing.
Our guides will select a climbing area close to the parking at Smith Rock State Park to maximize your climbing time. We usually use an area within a short 15-minute walk where we have several routes to choose from. Once you’re there, the focus is on getting you up on the wall for as much as you can fit into 4 hours. We’ll get you back to your car in time for your afternoon plans.
This program is also an excellent choice in the heat of summer, when an early evening climbing session can be the best way to beat the heat. This program will usually last about 4 hours from start to finish. Your guides are always ready to adjust their planned itinerary based on your interests and ability-level. Smith Rock State Park offers world-class climbing for every level of climber, from those who have never touched rock or rope before, to those from far-away who have come here specifically for the world-class sport climbing of the main formation and the unlimited crack climbing of the Lower Gorge.
Half days are offered from 8 am-12 pm, or from 2-6 pm.
