The best way to learn to climb is to spend a couple of days doing it. On this multi-day course you’ll climb in multiple areas and experience more types of rock and movement. Being engaged in your climbing for a few days in a row will help you improve your technique and learn fundamental climbing skills. There’s no better Spring and Fall climbing destination for sunny warm weather and access to unlimited amounts of excellent rock. You’ll climb all day long, and you’ll be learning new skills and techniques throughout the day. Every course is tailored to your climbing level and goals.
Day 1: Learn the basics of solid belaying and movement skills on some classic introductory climbs at Smith Rock. The climbing is on immense walls of volcanic rock in view of the Crooked River, an area with dozens of species of birds. Your guide will choose climbs for your ability level and you’ll improve your balance, foot-work, and hand-grips as you enjoy areas like the Dihedrals and the Northern Point. We’ll also teach you to rappel.
Day 2: You’ll help choose what kind of routes you want to climb on this second day. You might try multipitch climbing, more difficult routes, or focus on the technical aspects of climbing. This day can include classic routes like Spider Man and Sky ridge, or can focus on gear placement, anchor building and lead-belaying skills in the cracks of the Crooked River Gorge.
Your guide will tailor route selection and skills practice to your level of experience. You’ll walk away much more confident in your climbing ability with more skills to take outside.
